It’s hard to find a good sketch pad now even though the market seems to be inundated by cheap art materials. Some of the pads are even made with good quality paper but the consensus across the board seems to be that glaring white paper is what we all want.

I hate doodling and sketching on super white paper. Maybe it’s because it’s not restful for the eyes or because the background overwhelms the work. It is easy to see how using a white background could influence you by forcing you into doing more aggressive work.

This may not be necessarily a bad thing but I prefer an off white or a creamy coloured paper. The everyday sketch pad I use at the moment is one by NU. It is thankfully cheap without feeling cheap and its the only pad with paper like it. Just thought I’d share that. 🙂
